I'm using upmpcdlcli as features on MoodeAudio and everthing works well when BubbleDS acts as the control point. I would prefer however to use Kazoo, though when I do so I'm often unable to select a track or indeed an entire album - that's to say, nothing is added to the 'play queue'. I've no idea why this occurs...

I think I've just generated the log file that captures this issue - as detailed below:

    Hi,

It looks like the wrong source is selected (the playlist source is not active). What happens if you select the radio in kazoo, and then back to playlist ?

Also, what upmpdcli version are you running ?

    Thanks for the prompt response.

The ‘Apt show’ command informs that the version is ‘1.3.5-1~ppa1~stretch’ - I upgraded to this a short while ago as the last build of Moode Audio I installed I think came with version1.2.16. I’ve mainly being using a Moode Audio as a UPNP renderer c/o upmpcdlcli for many years and really appreciate all your efforts in terms of developing this.

As regards to my issue with Kazoo in all honesty I’m now struggling a bit to identify when this occurs. Though the problem definitely shows itself if having fired up Kazoo I select and play a track or album, then play a radio stream; and having done that I am then unable to return to the track or album I was playing first of all, or indeed any other local content. The app just doesn’t respond and nothing is added to Kazzo’s playlist, which as per your comment is suddenly inactive. I hope all of that makes sense. As I mentioned earlier, I haven’t experienced this issue with BubbleDS.

Thanks for the details. I have comments in the code saying that this can't work but I don't fully understand them. I'll give this a try this week and see if I can improve things.

Once again, many thanks for looking into this issue for me - I really appreciate your endeavours and time. I’ve now done some testing and initial impression was good – there was a feeling that the playlist in Kazoo appears to be functioning much better. However, I’ve just gone into the ‘now playing’ display screen and noticed that the details presented here (including the artwork) don’t relate to the track which is currently playing. Indeed, it appears that this info hasn’t changed from the track that was playing before this…

I'll have another look. Is this in relation with a switch from radio to playlist or not at all ?

No, not switching from radio that particular issue appears to be resolved with the package you provided. And what I outlined on Friday of the now playing details being incorrect I’m now starting to think may have been a red herring, which I was able to fix by restarting both the Kazoo app and my pi (acting as the upmpdcli renderer). Having said that, occasionally if I add an album to the playlist in Kazoo the app only plays the first track on the album - that’s to say it doesn’t automatically start the next one when that track finishes.

I could not reproduce this. What would be interesting in this situation would be to check if MPD has somehow been switched into 'single' mode and have a look at the state of its playlist. Any mpd client (e.g. mpc) should be able to show this.

One thing I've seen while trying to reproduce this is that Kazoo sometimes does not update its state correctly when coming back from sleep. For example if it goes to sleep with songs in the playlist, and the playlist is cleared from another control point, the playlist shown by Kazoo when it wakes up will not be empty. Switching to another renderer and back clears this, and probably so does modifying the playlist.
