I've been using Azigo for a week now and it appears to be just another source of spam. Of no benefit so far. It would appear that the claims it is a data store and can help manage an identity online may be true, but certainly not to the degree OPENi wishes to achieve. Not really relevant to here, but was called a data store in an article so for the purposes of research looked in to it. Very much dedicated to shopping, brands, making it easier and more enjoyable to consume offers and newsletters from brands.
Cayova https://cayova.com/ commercial Cayova is social networking site that promotes the remuneration of users in exchange for personal data. The ideology behind Cayova being that personal information is a commodity. Cayova generates its revenues through targeted advertising to users who have opted into their "Market Me" feature. Users are paid a share of any income resulting from watching an advertisement. Cayova provide a browser plugin that blocks third party tracking and strips sites of ads. The plugin gathers browsing information on behalf of Cayova. The company privacy policy states they will not release this data to third parties without explicit permission from users (with some exceptions). This aside Cayova has all of the typical features users associate with modern social networking sites.
EnCoRe http://www.encore-project.info research A research project undertaken by UK industry and academia, to give individuals more control over their personal information. Also to benefit individuals by providing meaningful, intuitive mechanisms which will
allow them to control the use of their personal information held by others. EnCoRe provides a mechanism for organisations to implement i.e. the data still lives with the company. OPENi will store data on behalf of the user giving them full control.

By keeping users data in their homes, they gain useful legal protections over it. Fredombox have concentrated on building their own distributed social network, email, and audio/video communications. For these use-cases OPENi will integrate with existing cloud based services.

Gigya allows the gathering, transfer and storage of user information harvested from third party services. Although their core business model is to allow easy transfer of user personal information, they also offer a cloud storage solution for the data. Gigya provide REST APIs for third party application integration and many SDKs to aid developers.
HipServ http://www.hipserv.com commercial, standalone A home cloud where users can mimic cloud based services. This service is primarily concerned with digital media in the home. OPENi intends on storing a wider range of data, is user centric (not home centric) and integrates with CBS.
Mega https://mega.co.nz/ commercial Mega is a privacy orientated cloud based storage platform. Mega have a centralised storage solution but also offer remuneration for any entity who wishes to host a Mega node. Once this entity meets particular requirements (disk space, up-link bandwidth etc.) they can host Mega's data. Mega drive their privacy agenda through the encryption schemes offered. Encryption happens client side in a web browser through a JavaScript library. All data stored with Mega is encrypted before and during transmission to their servers. This successfully locks all third parties from the data, including Mega themselves, offering greater user control.
MyDex http://mydex.org/ commercial Offers similar services to Personal Inc. The main differences between the two is in their implementations. MyDex use a 256-bit AES encryption scheme on its darenumerationta store. A pass phrase is required for decryption of user data, this is never stored by MyDex. Public APIs are offered to developers who register their applications with the service. CRUD operations on user's data is possible through these APIs. MyDex's privacy policy explicitly states there is no guarantee of data ownership for users. However a commitment is given to not allowing any third party to access the data without users expressing permission. Note proposed work to allow user to exploit a distributed datastore model.

The application retails at $29.95 (US) and a third day free trial is offered. The application is not networked in any meaningful to any online service. Extremely basic user interface, allows users to store a wide variety of personal information. A privacy policy is non existent.

"Your (companies) data on your (companies) servers, under your (companies) control. ownCloud Inc offers Business and Enterprise editions with extensive support. Personal https://www.personal.com/ commercial A secure online "vault" for "owners" to store their "Gems"(data). They are very conscious of control of data, but fully accept your data is valuable. Users data is accessible to developers building apps on the Personal platform (iPhone and Android). They cover control and privacy in their terms and conditions. The individual is the owner of the data, but they consent to grant access to apps where appropriate. They can leave the platform at any stage at which point it is deleted. All data is double encrypted where only the end user can decrypt it. They have a well documented "Security & Privacy Practices" doc which details their company culture of respect for privacy and data and control. Recently Personal announced integration with FileThis. Allowing 200+ companies to post bills and statements directly to a user's vault. Very similar to OPENi, i.e. stores personal data, integrates with mobile applications, user controls access to their data (locks out others including platform admin). We will differentiate by implementing service enablers and integrating with Cloud Based Services.

Pidder promise privacy and anonymity when using their service. All data is encrypted before it sent to Pidder's servers. Client side encryption schemes prevent unauthorised access by all third parties through Pidder's centralised databases. Provide a browser plugin to remove the threat of rogue scripts exploiting client side encryption. Non-invasive logging, not even the IP addresses of those accessing the servers are logged.
Privowny http://privowny.com/ commercial Privowny is a digital privacy company that show users their digital information leakage as they browse. As a user browses the net Privowny's plugin determines the information being gathered by third parties through technologies such as cookies. User's exploit Privowny to determine their information's exposure to third party sites. Information harvested by Privowny is stored centrally and this data belongs to users. Encryption of data occurs client side, eliminating unauthorised access through the centralised platform by third parties (including Privowny).
QIY http://www.qiy.com/ non-profit QIY is a non profit organisation devoted to redistributing the balance of power with regards to personal data in favour of individuals. The central purpose of QIY is to aggregate a user's personal data and allow them greater control over who has access to it. QIY provide a centralised solution for the storage of this data. The QIY foundation commits to not sharing information with third parties without permission. The site is presently in beta and no public APIs are available. Currently only the Doors app is live. Doors facilitates the easy and secure login of user to other services. The browser plug-in gathers this login information and presents it to the user.
Singly http://singly.com/ commercial Singly is a commercial entity that provides aggregated APIs for interacting with multiple cloud services. Singly offer a common API for interacting with 30 + services including Dropbox, Facebook, PayPal, Github, Reddit, Yahoo, YouTube etc. Singly's platform aids the creation of new services/apps that are easily integrated with these services, enhancing user experience. They do state they will share user information in certain situations but not for the purpose of sale/rent. Singly can very significantly reduce an applications development effort for integration with third party services, developers only manage access to Singly's APIs.

Very clear explanation of their ratings, and points out to a user where the language used is too broad in an attempt to make the user aware before they cede control to another party. Not a technology solution like OPENi but very concerned with control of the individual's data
