to get recoll to install by ./configure and make install. I need to install the following given the errors that came up. just letting you know. sorry if I missed something in the notes. I am upgrading from 1.21.5.1 to 1.23.6, though I removed the previous version for the lastest attempts. - seems excessive to install something like 200+mb - but worth it as it's a brilliant resource to search locally, I call it my internet. (remember Alta Vista web search with advanced wildcard etc search patterns?)
the reason I've put myself through this is that the old version always seems to crash if left unattended, and crashed at other times too.
libxapian-dev
libxapian22
libxapian22-dbg
xapian-doc
xapian-examples
xapian-tools
zlib1g-dev
libx11-dev
python-dev
libxslt1-dev libxslt1.1
still no qwebview
apt-get install libqtwebkit-dev
installed ok but wont run, no recoll.
run /usr/loca/bin/recoll - ok
I can set this up as a shortcut key or something later. note that it picked up my recoll conf settings from the previous version.
thanks. 2 hours well spent, this is the Linux way. config file attached if useful to you.

2018-01-07Thanks a lot for taking the time for describing this.
I think that the requirements are mostly covered by the manual section about building Recoll, your work allowed me to check them:
https://www.lesbonscomptes.com/recoll/usermanual/webhelp/docs/RCL.INSTALL.BUILDING.PREREQS.htmlI guess that building recoll was an interesting project in itself, but, in case you are interested, there are also up to date packages on the Recoll PPA:
https://launchpad.net/~recoll-backports/+archive/ubuntu/recoll-1.15-onAs far as I know, these work fine on Mint.
Thanks again !
