Oops, I'm so sorry. Somehow I managed to open a new ticket while intending to search in the existing ones (so embarrassing). Naturally, I couldn't remove that afterwards. Please feel free to close this / remove altogether.

No problem at all. But I guess that you do have some kind of problem ?

I did; the issue was that Recoll could not use my version of pdftotext. After some digging it turned out I had some "traces" of xpdf on my Ubuntu system (meaning that the xpdf executable and its pdftotext were present, even though xpdf package appeared as "not installed" and I had installed the popplers-util package). After removing them and reinstalling popplers-util I managed to get everything working, so all is good.

Also, let me thank you for your work on Recoll. I just yesterday learned about it from a Zotero/Mendeley discussion (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=17606929); I really think this is a terrific idea :)
